I’m not sure what link you’re referring to, but there was indeed a scandal over the Charleston – when Lady Elizabeth Mountbatten (who later became the queen – and then the Queen Mum) was photographed dancing it with Fred Astaire. Shocking! Not only a very risqué dance, but dancing with an American actor, at that!
That formed the seed of the story. Obviously, it was more fun for me to have the girl be my character, and to have the royal personage be the Prince of Wales (who was known to love to Charleston). I hope that explains things!
